Strategic planning & Gender specialist
Dr. Maxi Ussar
Maxi has over 20 years’ international experience in gender equality promotion and organisational development. She has designed and delivered multi‑year gender and country strategies for UNICEF, UN Women, UNESCO, USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), consulting firms (Technoserve, TetraTech, Finch, ASI, Includovate, Equilo), and international NGOs including Oxfam GB, Oxfam Netherlands, and ActionAid.
Maxi excels in facilitation, human‑centred design, and fostering cross‑sectoral collaboration. She has led high‑profile change initiatives, including the UNICEF Eastern and Southern Africa regional management review, UNICEF Sudan’s country management plan, and the restructuring of WFP’s Global Gender Office. She has served as Gender and Youth Advisor for several large‑scale market systems development projects.

- Gender analysis & gender strategy/policy/training material development, particularly in agriculture and market systems
- Organisational development and cross‑sectoral collaboration
- Facilitation, team building, and human‑centred design methods
- Desk-based and field research and impact evaluations using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Maxi holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Master’s degree from SOAS, University of London.

Programme design and quality & Resource mobilisation expert
Adam Davies
Adam brings over 15 years’ senior leadership experience, growing and delivering numerous high‑impact, innovative programmes for Save the Children, Oxfam, and United Purpose, as well as for major UN, EU, and foundation‑funded initiatives.
Adam has led the development of multi‑year country strategies for Save the Children, Oxfam, and United Purpose in Mozambique, Malawi, and Tanzania.
He has steered resource mobilisation and partnership strategies that have secured over US $300 million in funding from institutional donors, trusts and foundations, corporates, and private donors.
Adam was also Director and Board Member of CUMO Microfinance, Malawi’s leading rural finance institution serving bottom of the pyramid entrepreneurs (82% female) for five years.

- Programme and project design
- Funding and resource mobilisation plan, strategic positioning, and proposal writing
- Strategic communications (annual reports, brochures, learning materials).
Adam holds a Master’s degree (with Distinction) in Development Planning from University College London (UCL) and a Bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics, UK.

Migration, Policy & Programme Strategy expert
Lodovica Tranchini
Lodovica brings over 12 years’ international leadership experience across humanitarian and development programmes providing a unique blend of strategic insight, operational know-how, and multi-country expertise to organisations navigating complexity and change. She has held senior positions with Save the Children, Danish Refugee Council, Concern, Cesvi, and United Purpose, as well as consulting assignments with the UN World Food Programme. She has worked across Africa and Asia including Bhutan, CAR, Chad, Haiti, Libya, Malawi, Nepal, Niger, Senegal, and Tunisia.
She has led the design and delivery of multi-year country and regional strategies, including co-authoring DRC’s North Africa migration strategy and designing multiple country and funding strategies. Lodovica has steered successful resource mobilisation securing over $50 million in funding from donors including EU, ECHO, FCDO, USAID, UN agencies, Irish Aid, and private foundations, and has built partnerships with governments, civil society, and the private sector. Lodovica is fluent in English, Italian and French.

Lodovica holds an MSc in International Migration and Public Policy (Distinction) from the London School of Economics, and a BA in International Relations (First Class) from the University of Exeter.
